Color cylinders are the last step in working with materials that aim to differentiate sizes. At this stage the child orders the cylinders in each series based only on his ability to recognize the dimensions. Here it no longer benefits from error control as in the case of natural cylinders in the support.
Working with color cylinders prepares the child for mathematical activities that involve insertion, comparison and classification. At the beginning, the child can order the cylinders in a line or in the shape of a tower, sorting them by color and size. Later the cylinder sets can be combined with each other to establish the interdependencies between the dimensions.
The set contains 4 boxes made of natural wood, each with 10 cylinders of painted wood that vary gradually in height and / or diameter.
Yellow set: the height and diameter of the cylinders decrease.
Green set: the diameter of the cylinders decreases and their height increases.
Red set: the diameter of the cylinders decreases and their height remains constant.
Blue set: the height of the cylinders decreases and their diameter remains constant.
